The emphasis is on getting to know your body, where it moves well, where it is more restricted and through stretches, postures, breathwork and meditation to gently invite it to release. Pilates is a low impact exercise programme which aims to create a strong inner-core within a supple outer-frame. Slow, controlled movements tone and lengthen muscles, improve posture and support a healthy spine and a calm mind. Pilates is popular with people of all ages and levels of fitness and is named after its Joseph Pilates who formulated the exercises in 1920’s based around a programme of 34 original movements.
